ABOUT WORDPLAY
Wordplay Audio Theatre produces, dynamic, exciting living performances of classic short fiction stories. Not your run of the mill audiobooks, Wordplay Audio Theatre’s recordings are performance pieces; the perfect meeting of literature and theatre, a “Marriage of Sound and Sense ™ “!

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Wordplay Audio Theatre uses professional actors to record short stories, but while most audio book companies instruct their readers to give a neutral read we urge our actors to create a performance! We are seeking a theatrical experience for our listeners, an interpretation of the story that moves us emotionally. To this end, we rehearse, and rehearse, and rehearse some more, but we record our stories “live”, without making any audio cuts or other edits, giving you a spontaneous, “living theatre” experience. Anything can happen in a Wordplay dynamic living reading; we try our best to get as close as we can to the experience of a live, theatrical performance!

ABOUT THIS FILE
This performance is coded at a high quality level of mp3 technology. There is no copyguard on this recording, or any DRM system in place. By distributing our files to you in this way, we make it easy for you to play them on your computer, to load onto a portable mp3 listening device like an iPod, or to burn onto CD. It is also, alas, easy for you to swap this file without permission, and give it away to those who did not purchase it. We hope you won’t do this. If you value what us then you can insure we stay in business and continue to entertain you by only making copies of this work for your use only.

  1. Thanks for making this available online. I used it to help my students read the story. It really helps with the unfamiliar language, vocabulary.

Hello, Mr. Bray. I teach academically gifted kids in Louisiana. We are studying Poe and I found your site quite by accident this morning as I was preparing to teach “Cask of Amontillado.” My kids are quite jaded and hard to please when it comes to reading along with an audio version of the literature we cover. I decided to have them do it with this story anyway (although I did not preview the audio version b/c I was out of time) , but anticipated their typical remarks at its conclusion. To my great surprise and pleasure, they (and I) LOVED your presentation. They said it really helped them understand and enjoy the story. We will definitely be using your podcasts again. Thank you for a job extraordinarily well done.
